Bank / Transferable Points
Earned from credit card spending. The most flexible โ you can transfer them to dozens of airline and hotel programs, or redeem through the bank's own travel portal. Examples: Chase Ultimate Rewards, Amex Membership Rewards, Citi ThankYou, Capital One Miles, Bilt Rewards.

Airline Miles
Earned by flying, using co-branded credit cards, or transferring bank points. Redeemed for award flights โ often at a fraction of the cash price, especially in premium cabins. Examples: United MileagePlus, Delta SkyMiles, American AAdvantage, Southwest Rapid Rewards.

Hotel Points
Earned by staying at chain properties or using co-branded cards. Redeemed for free nights โ including high-end resorts where a single night might cost $800+ cash. Examples: Hyatt World of Hyatt, Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, IHG One Rewards.
